Route: Guwahati ➝ Shillong ➝ Cherrapunjee ➝ Dawki ➝ Shillong ➝ Guwahati

Meghalaya, often called the "Abode of Clouds," is a breathtakingly beautiful state nestled in the northeast of India. Known for its lush green landscapes, cascading waterfalls, mystical caves, and vibrant tribal culture, Meghalaya is a paradise for nature lovers and adventure seekers alike. The capital city, Shillong, often dubbed the "Scotland of the East," charms visitors with its colonial architecture, rolling hills, and lively music scene. Cherrapunjee and Mawsynram, among the wettest places on earth, boast stunning waterfalls and living root bridges—unique natural wonders crafted by generations of the Khasi people. The crystal-clear waters of the Umngot River in Dawki, the cleanliness of Mawlynnong Village, and the panoramic views from Laitlum Canyons all add to the state’s allure.

🗓️ Day 1: Guwahati → Shillong (100 km / ~3 hrs)

Highlights: Umiam Lake, Shillong Local

  • 🚗 Arrive at Guwahati Airport / Railway Station.
  • En route, stop at Umiam Lake (Barapani) for boating & views.
  • Check-in at hotel in Shillong.
  • Visit:
    • Don Bosco Museum
    • Ward’s Lake
    • Shillong Peak (highest point in Meghalaya)
    • Elephant Falls
  • Evening: Explore Police Bazaar.
  • 💤 Overnight in Shillong.


🗓️ Day 2: Shillong → Cherrapunjee (55 km / ~2 hrs)

Highlights: Caves, Waterfalls, Scenic Views

  • After breakfast, drive to Cherrapunjee (Sohra).
  • En route stop at:
    • Mawkdok Viewpoint
  • Visit:
    • 🌊 Nohkalikai Falls (India's tallest plunge waterfall)
    • 🕳️ Mawsmai Caves
    • 🏞️ Seven Sisters Falls
    • 🕳️ Arwah Caves

🗓️ Day 3: Cherrapunjee – Double Decker Root Bridge Trek (Optional)

Highlights: Adventure, Nature

  • 🌿 Early morning: Trek to Double Decker Living Root Bridge at Nongriat (~6–7 hrs round trip; steep but rewarding).
  • OR opt for light sightseeing:
    • Dainthlen Falls
    • Visit nearby villages & explore local culture.
  • 💤 Overnight in Cherrapunjee.


🗓️ Day 4: Cherrapunjee → Dawki – Shnongpdeng (80 km / ~3 hrs)

Highlights: River Activities, Camping

  • 🚗 Morning drive to Dawki, known for its crystal-clear Umngot River.
  • En route visit:
    • 🌄 Mawlynnong Village – Asia's cleanest village
    • Living Root Bridge (Riwai)
  • In Dawki:
    • 🛶 Boating on Umngot River (glass-clear water)
    • Optional: Ziplining, cliff jumping, riverside walks
  • 🌌 Enjoy riverside camping or stay in a guesthouse.

🗓️ Day 5: Dawki → Shillong (85 km / ~3 hrs)

Highlights: Waterfalls, Relaxation

  • Drive back to Shillong.
  • En route visit:
    • Bophill Falls
    • Dawki Bridge (India-Bangladesh border)
  • Afternoon free to relax or explore local cafés.
  • Optional visit: Laitlum Canyons (panoramic view if time permits).
  • 💤 Overnight in Shillong.


🗓️ Day 6: Shillong → Guwahati (100 km / ~3 hrs)

Highlights: Kamakhya Temple (optional)

  • Drive to Guwahati.
  • Optional visit: Kamakhya Temple (if time allows before flight/train).
